Relaxing Time on the School Grounds

Surroundings and Specificities

Boarding Favours Academic Success

The pupils are taken care of in a peaceful learning environment far away from the usual enticements. We ensure no waste of time and tiredness due to commuting. For those young people in need of a balanced life, boarding is often the best solution.

Yet, education expands far beyond the classroom. We strongly believe that our school provides the means to learn autonomy and one’s sense of responsibility, to discover and develop one’s skills.

Boarders Only

There are no day pupils at IBR. The students are weekly or full boarders only, and the day’s organisation is very specific.

  • From 1st to 5th Form, prep time is compulsory in the morning and late afternoon; there are activities after classes and some time to relax in the evening.
  • 6th Formers have an intense training programme in order to prepare for the National Examinations.

Our school is also opened at the weekend and during most of the holidays so that the children who are far from home can work in the best conditions. IBR is an outstanding boarding-school.

Full-Boarding

Our small-sized classes (15 max) ensure that each pupil is fully taken into account through exchanges and individual help.

We are highly skilled at Tutoring: our qualified staff care for the pupils’ needs and can quickly analyse their level and weaknesses to help them in an effective way.

Our Learning Strategy Course has been very helpful since its creation some 10 years ago, providing the pupils a better organisation and more efficiency in their work.

A Welcoming and Lively School

The pupils live 10 months a year in surroundings favourable to their well-being and self-development. The houses ideally scattered on the school grounds create a community far from the bustling of the cities.

The single-sex houses in which the pupils are accommodated have various bedrooms from 6 to 10 beds for the 11-15 and 3 beds for the 16-18.

The school is set on a rural and leafy setting of about 10 hectares. It is composed of 4 houses where the children are accommodated, an indoor sports hall and outdoor playing fields, as well as the main office building.

Our in-house catering team and his Chef provide all meals, both to pupils and staff. Meals are served centrally in the dining-hall. There are freshly and balanced dishes and the Chef is happy to cater for any special dietary requirements. A committee composed of children and adults may meet in order to always improve our service, and it also offers some thematic meals throughout the year.

Bécon-les-Granits

The school is located in Bécon-les-Granits, a small village at about 20 km from Angers and 5 km from the motorway A11.

The village offers the main facilities for shopping and leisure.

Angers

Angers is the 16th most important city in France by its number of inhabitants. Indeed, Angers and its suburbs have a total population of 260,000 people.

It can be easily reached by rail (1.30 from Paris, 45 min from Nantes, 4.00 from Lyon), by road (2.30 from Paris and 45 min from Nantes by the A11), and by air either at Angers-Marcé or Nantes International Airport.

Angers is a cultural city with its famous King René’s Castle, its cathedral, its museums and its film festival- the Festival d’Anjou. But Angers is also a dynamic and lively university town with one of the four French Catholic universities.
